I want to recommend choosing High Desert Ranch and Outfitting for your next hunt in the great State of Colorado.

I had the wonderful experience of a successful four day pronghorn hunt guided by Randy Sloan, got a beautiful mature buck my first day.

Randy demonstrated being very capable every step of the way, from methodically scouting the vast ranch land we had access to, the selecting of the best pronghorn buck from the many harems the ranch offered, to expertly capping and field dressing my harvested buck.

I was really fortunate to have been under the guidance of someone so clearly skilled though many seasons of practical experience and dedicated to gifting me with life long memories of a successful hunt.

But that is only the half of the experience of my stay. As this is family run, I was welcomed in as if one of their family for the duration on my stay. From the first day I lost any sense of being just a paying client there for a hunt. Randy, and his gracious wife Cheyanne, were always making sure my stay was warm and hospitable. There was no shortage of delicious home cooked meals, dinner often ending with the best tasting homemade ice cream.

I was inspired to provide this testimonial after spending a week hunting with Cheyenne and Randy Sloan of High Desert Ranch and Outfitting.

I learned of High Desert Ranch and Outfitting when I attended the Sportsman’s Expo in January of 2023. I spoke to numerous guides and outfitters that day but what really stood out to me about High Desert was the enthusiasm and passion these folks had about what they do. These people are hunters themselves and they are passionate about sharing what they enjoy with others.

While they couldn’t guarantee a successful harvest, they promised an experience of a lifetime….and let me tell you, they delivered that in spades.

Every aspect of my experience with them was fantastic. I got to stay and hunt on a beautiful 3000 acre ranch abundant with a variety of wildlife. The accommodations were very comfortable and homey. The food was abundant and delicious hunt-camp fare and I was treated like a part of the Sloan family.

Conditions for elk hunting were not ideal given the winter kill of the previous Winter and the lack of snow hadn’t yet got the herds moving, but I observed Cheyenne and Randy strategizing and working their tails off to do everything possible to help their clients fill their tag. In the end their knowledge, skills, and adaptability helped me to realize a life-long dream of hunting and harvesting a Rocky Mountain Elk.

I cannot say enough how great my experience was with High Desert Ranch and Outfitters and they have my full recommendation. They most certainly delivered the experience of a lifetime that they promised.
